I’ve learned that creating and following a detailed timeline is the key to a successful wedding reception. That’s why I meet with clients many weeks before their weddings to discuss exactly how their special wedding celebration will unfold.
The clients and I develop a timeline that ensures that the evening will flow and include all the special details that need to be covered in the specified period of time of your wedding, which would include the wedding cocktail hour and the wedding reception. It would also include the wedding ceremony if it’s going to be at the same site as the cocktails and reception.
The timeline enables us to know how your wedding celebration will unfold. Once your timeline is set, I send a copy of the timeline to the banquet manager well in advance of your wedding reception.
I also make certain that a copy is given to the maitre’ d and all other vendors to ensure consistency. If the clients have an event planner, I have a meeting with the planner many weeks in advance so that we are all on the same page.
Go With the Flow
Only a skilled and experienced bandleader can ensure that your special event is unforgettable. I can feel the energy in the ballroom and know when to perform certain styles of dance music. This ensures a fun, high-energy experience that keeps the dance floor packed! Of course, while the guests are enjoying their dinner, the band plays music at a conversational level.

I make sure that my band members look like a million bucks. Our clients deserve the best.
For example, if your event is a formal affair, the female vocalists wear long black dresses and black-heeled dress shoes. The men wear black tuxedos, white pocket squares, white shirts with cufflinks, black bow ties, and black patent leather dress shoes. If your wedding reception isn’t formal the female vocalists wear black cocktail dresses and black-heeled shoes. As the band leader, I listen carefully to our clients and customize our performances to their needs. Every detail matters, including your song choices, special requests, and the timeline. The bride and groom can choose as many songs from our song list of over 1200 songs as they want. We’ll also learn some songs that are special to the bride and groom. For example, sometimes we play their parents’ first dance songs if that is requested.
